Maternity Session | Dallas, TX
How did I end up shooting a Maternity Session in Dallas, TX ? Scarlett, aren’t you a NYC/NJ photographer ?
Yes, I am BASED out of the NYC/NJ area but I travel wherever my clients need me to be. For this session in particular it was Texas. But this session is a little extra special to me. That is because it was for my dear and close friend John and his wife Kim. I consider them both part of my family. I am always taking trips down to visit them but this one was the first time I ever shot them. It means the world to be able to capture such a special milestone in your friend’s life.
The day of the session was definitely one for the books. The morning of, John needed a shirt because in typical guy form he didn’t have one 😂 While Kim got her glam on, I headed off with John to Target to pick up a shirt. Then we headed off to our first location which was scorching hot even though it was almost evening. I have no clue how these guys did it. After we headed to our secondary location, we were racing to it because the sun was setting and we were almost out of light. Not only that but we were running low on gas 😲
We were an absolute mess on this day 😂 This isn’t typically the way Scar Vita Sessions go. But John was in charge of driving and didn’t check how much gas the car had ! Right as we finished at the second location and were praying we had enough gas to get us to a gas station, we spotted our third and final location. We weren’t planning on stopping anywhere else but the pond was just too great to pass up. As John tried to convince us to not stop to keep going, Kim and I in our true form ignored John and we stopped.
We stepped out to grab some quick shots because again, the sun was setting. As soon as we approached the pond a HUGE ANGRY duck came bolting towards us with his/her wings in the air quacking at us to leave. John and I took off running 😂 like two scared children. But Kim ! Kim, stood there, firm with her finger pointed at the duck saying “NO”. I mean the mom in her came out at that very moment but also if you know Kim you know that there is nothing that will get in her way of getting a great photo.
I hope you stuck along to hear the crazy day that was this shoot day. And I hope you enjoy a few of my favorites from Kim & John’s Dallas, TX Maternity Session.
